Pre-K Instructional Assistants support the ABC preschool program by delivering high-quality early childhood education. Under the supervision of certified teachers, the assistant facilitates instructional activities, manages classroom behavior, and provides individualized or small-group support to students, fostering a nurturing and effective learning environment.
The role is performed in a standard classroom setting, which may include special education environments. Duties may involve exposure to various student behaviors and require flexibility to adapt to different instructional needs.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans as directed by the lead teacher.Support students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and mathematics.Prepare and organize classroom materials and resources.Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, recess, and transitions to ensure safety and engagement.Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students needing additional assistance.Monitor, document, and communicate student behavior and academic progress with teachers, staff, and parents.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.Adhere to all state and federal regulations and district policies and procedures.Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by school and district leaders to support student achievement, school culture, and team collaboration.
