Job Description
The Desktop Technician will be responsible to provide Tier 1 level technical support of operational activities in a data center environment. This position supports and maintains organizational computers, network equipment and power distribution. The typical shift will be Sat - Tuesday from 9am to 8pm.
THIS POSITION IS ONSITE IN POTEAU, OKLAHOMA
- Provides first level technical support to internal customers
- Perform installation of routers, switches, servers and other devices in Data Center.
- Diagnoses, repairs, maintains, and upgrades all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal computer performance.
- Racking and unracking of computers.
- Provides technical support
- Daily visual inspections of Data Center.
- Maintain a clean and orderly Data Center.
- Provide inbound-outbound shipping support.
- Builds rapport and elicits problem details from customers.
- Performs physical part changes on computers.
- Installs new hardware components, operating systems, and software.
- Troubleshoot issue to diagnose root cause of problem.
- Document and keep elevation documents up to date.
- Track inventory and assist with asset management related tasks.
- Interacts with all appropriate departments within IT to restore service and/or identify problems and ensure efficient operation of the desktop computing environment.
Documents desktop related processes and procedures.
- Maintains appropriate service level agreement (SLA) on tickets in ticketing system.
- Identifies, researches and resolves technical problems.
- Documents, tracks, and monitors problems to ensure a timely resolution.
- Performs computer imaging, setup, patching, and upgrades.
- Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum one year experience in computer operations, telecommunications, desktop/PC support or related field required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of PC and desktop hardware.
- Knowledge of A+ or MCP.
- Knowledge and understanding of operating systems including Microsoft Windows 10.
- Ability to identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Strong customer service orientation and skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to apply principles of logic to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot hardware issues.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 45+lbs
- Occasional bending and stooping, carrying heavy items (45lbs+), crawling and kneeling, fingering, working on ladders, standing, walking, or pushing items
- Frequently working in confined spaces (i.e. computer work room, under desks, install areas, etc.) and grasping items
- Must have enough mobility to transport heavy equipment to assigned work location and to stand and reach with both arms above head for cable and equipment installations
- Should be able to hear and detect equipment or room alarms and may need to carry on conversation in high noise environments
- Must be able to detect color coding on cabling and read fine print in low light situations
