Position Details:

Stewards Individual Placements provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. The Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) Program combines the strength of a national leader in conservation service with the National Park Service to train a diverse group of emerging leaders to assist park units in building lasting connections to local communities.

This position will support video and website creation, assist in coordinating celebratory events surrounding the park's 50th anniversary, and assist in creating new volunteer opportunities that support the maintenance of historic cemeteries in the park.

Site Description:

Buffalo National River is a long and beautiful riverway, surrounded by hundreds of miles of hiking trails through the rolling Ozark Mountains. It is a popular canoe and kayaking destination, and introduces many first time visitors to outdoor experiences. The volunteer program matches interested volunteers with one of the many park volunteer opportunities and creates new opportunities to better engage all visitors. Volunteerism at Buffalo National River not only supports park operations, but inspires stewardship ethics in all who participate.

Position Responsibilities:

- Assisting in maintaining the Volunteer website

- Create videos for the web that celebrate local volunteers.

- Coordinate volunteers for 50th anniversary activities.

- Assist in the creation of new volunteer opportunities that support the maintenance of historic cemeteries in the park.

CVA Minimum Requirements:

- Participate in the CVA National Early Service Training in fall/winter 2022/2023

- Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident

- Be 18-30 years old at time of service (veterans up to 35 years old)

- Drivers license and a car

- Comfortable living in a rural area

- Comfortable working with computers

- Outgoing and friendly

- Clear communication skills

- Self motivated

- Team player

- Submit proof of a Driver’s License and undergo a Federal Background Check, upon selection

- US Citizen, or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

- Public Speaking Experience

- Video Creation experience

- Web experience

- Social Media Experience  

- Applicant from Arkansas

Additional Information:

- Position is remote and requires driver's license and a car.

- Housing is located in a remote location of the park, requiring a 30-minute drive time to the applicants duty station.

- Housing is shared.

- There will be opportunities to collaborate with local HBCUs and other National Park Service Sites.

- CVA will receive a weekly stipend of $500 (additional $65/week, if housing is not provided)
