Due to growth, ARMI Contractors is looking for an experienced Design Engineers to join their team located in the Fayetteville, AR area. They have openings for the following divisions: Industrial HVAC Systems, Process Utility and Piping, Process Equipment & Installation, and Thermal Fluid.

Location – Fayetteville has been consistently named one of the nation's best places for living, visiting, and retiring! It is a growing area, with concerts, restaurants, and bike trails nearby surrounded by the scenic Ozark Mountains, there is plenty to enjoy in nature, and the historic city.

Responsibilities:

Have a blue-collar approach when performing engineering & design for internal and external customers

Help the HVAC Team grow to provide a broader range of departmental services such as HVAC trouble shooting, service work, maintenance contracts, new HVAC systems, HVAC engineering & design services, etc.

Accompany Sales Engineers to “design & build” customer sales meetings and participate in selling the design & build project delivery process.

Design & Build Projects – perform HVAC system’s design for “design & build” industrial projects. Design package to be “shop drawing” quality showing details with complete bill of materials to improve project execution

Plan & Spec Projects – Break down the customer provided bid package, and generate a far more detailed and accurate set of detailed shop drawings for the installation crew to perform the project

Contact the HVAC equipment manufacturers / suppliers to obtain all utility requirements for their equipment that is involved in the project. Request cut-sheets with connection sizes and locations.

Design flue stacks required for the project including roof curbs, storm collars, China hats, lifting eyes, and support hangers. Stack design to be dimensionally accurate to allow everything to be prefabricated when possible.

Support the Project Manager by providing enhanced bid packages for obtaining sub-contractor bids such as ductwork to be outsourced, ductwork requiring to be field insulated, etc. Work with HVAC testing & balance companies and build a good working relationship. Support the Project Manager and field install team during system balancing.

Generate a duct labeling, condensate labeling, and specifications for the project complete with label type, label location, and total quantity required. Shop drawings for this to be accurate so the install crew is not guessing or assuming where labels are required.

Attend pre-construction meetings onsite with the Project Manager and Project Foreman. Provide all design information to the Foreman and walk through the entire project to ensure all is clear and understood.

Assist with testing & balance issues of the HVAC system to ensure the overall system operates per design and expectations of the customer.

Communicate, teach, and train the importance of new ductwork to be neatly placed on pallets when received and stored and not placed directly on the ground.

Communicate, teach, and train the importance of ductwork to be staged in a dry environment or properly tarped to not blow off.

Work with Sales Engineer and/or Project Manager to ensure there is a clear understanding of all materials, specifications, and quantities for procurement purposes.

Answer cell phone 24/7 whenever the Foreman and/or Project Manager calls with installation questions as related to the design.

Generate as-built weld drawings for customer and in-house records.

Make periodic site visits with Project Manager to verify the installation is going per the design, proper material specs, and support the installation crew.

Make final inspection visit with Project Manager and/or Sales Engineer and create a punch list for the install crew to complete prior to system start up.

Be onsite during system start-up and support the installation crew, equipment manufacturer start up techs, and local plant maintenance techs to ensure it is successful for all involved.

Provide Project Manager and field installers with listing of all documentation required to be obtained while starting up and checking out the system. Refrigerant pressures, motor amperages, air balance records, etc. A record of all shall be placed in the job file.

Assist Project Manager with project close out by ensuring all protocol is followed for data management, file management, and document control for future reference.

Ensure components and assemblies specified in the design packages adhere to applicable industry and business standards

Takes complete and full ownership of assigned projects/tasks

Stays late as needed to meet the task due dates unless an extension is approved by the Sales Engineer

Keeps a record of correspondence with Sales Engineers and customers

Travel Expectations are 50%
