All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law. Position InformationClass Code: M057CGrade: GS06FLSA Status: EXEMPTSalary Range: $36,155.00 - $52,425.00SummaryThe Chaplain is responsible for conducting and conducting general worship services and providing spiritual counseling to inmates in correctional institutions and clients of staff in institutional settings. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.FunctionsConducts and supervises worship services by providing sermons and religious instructions. Counsels inmates and staff concerning faith issues, grief, personal crises, family issues, and rehabilitation work. Coordinates and supervises religious programs, pastoral visits, religious services workshops, and volunteer programs. Leads ecumenical worship services for individuals and administers religious rites and ordinances. Assists in interviewing and selecting the volunteer religious representatives. Orients volunteers to relevant policies and procedures. Performs visits to hospitals to check on inmate or client needs. Delivers death and hospitalization notices to inmates from immediate family members. Consoles in crisis situation and processes emergency furlough paperwork. Prepares reports concerning service attendance and donated materials. Orients new inmates to available religious services and assistance programs. May write articles for publication and reports of worship service attendance, donated materials, and hospital visits.
