We are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage / Access Control Technician to join our team and grow with us.
Position Overview:
As a Low Voltage / Access Control Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic security and low voltage systems. You will work with a variety of technologies including access control, IP-based systems, alarm panels, cameras, intercoms, and structured cabling. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team in commercial, industrial, and occasionally residential settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, and test low voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, coax, fiber).
Install, program, and maintain access control systems, card readers, keypads, and door hardware (mag locks, strikes, REX devices).
Configure and troubleshoot IP cameras, DVR/NVR systems, and video management software.
Perform system programming, integration, and upgrades for alarms, intercoms, and security networks.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
Ensure installations meet NEC, local code, and safety requirements.
Provide on-site technical support and customer training when needed.
Maintain accurate documentation, job reports, and inventory tracking.
Collaborate with project managers and team members to complete jobs on time and on budget.
Qualifications:
2+ years experience in low voltage, security, or related field (access control experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of cabling, wiring standards, and troubleshooting methods.
Familiarity with systems such as Lenel, RS2/ACRE, Honeywell, Bosch, Genetec, Avigilon, HID (or similar).
Ability to work with power tools, hand tools, lifts, and testing equipment.
Basic understanding of networking (IP addresses, switches, PoE).
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record required.
Industry certifications (OSHA 10/30, BICSI, NICET, manufacturer training) a plus.
Must pass background check and drug screening.
