The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day production and operations of the BIO5 Institute Media Facility. This Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) facility provides a wide variety of growth media, buffers, cell culture media, Drosophila media and custom solutions for UA researchers located across the University of Arizona campus. The Research Technician will work collaboratively with UA researchers to develop custom preparations.
In this GLP facility, the Research Technician will write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), while training new student employees to follow SOPs in all aspects of laboratory functioning. This person will also need to become comfortable talking about the facility’s products and services with new and existing customers.
The duties in this position also include inputting data for new products into database, inventory tracking (chemicals, consumables and supply items), submitting supply orders, receiving orders upon arrival and working collaboratively with the facility’s staff to perform annual inventory.
The Research Technician will assist with Glassware Services, to provide clean, sterile glassware, and plastic ware to lab members located in the Thomas W. Keating Bioresearch laboratories, Bioscience Research Laboratories and in the Medical Research Building. This includes operating and maintaining lab equipment and interfacing with service technicians.
