Part-time Attendant Care/Respite Care Worker for a 17-year-old Male with Cerebral Palsy – Morning Hours 7:30 am to 11:30 am Mon/Thu, plus 7:30 am to 4:30 pm Friday – additional hours available if desired – Near Sabino Canyon
We are looking for an attendant care/respite care worker for my son, who is severely disabled with cerebral palsy. This would be a great job for someone who wants to go into physical therapy or a related field. He prefers a male provider, but women with enough strength to lift a 90 to 100-pound person are welcome to apply.
The employer of record is a local agency, and funding for the position comes through DDD/ALTCS. The hours are 7:30 am to 11:30 am Monday through Thursday, plus Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Additional hours are available evenings and weekends if desired. The current pay rate for Attendant Care is about $19.00/hr., and Respite Care is about $18.00/hr. The responsibilities of this role include dressing, assisting with toileting, g-tube feeds, lifting and transferring, stretching, maintaining a safe environment, and having fun/being engaging.
To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following criteria:
At least 18 years of age.
Successful completion of a background check.
Completion of the required minimum training classes (approximately 10 hours, some paid/some unpaid, but stipend available).
Ability to obtain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance card.
Access to a reliable car to and from our home.
Clean driving record, as using our wheelchair van for activities with my son may be an option.
Physical capability to perform duties such as lifting, bending, and kneeling.
If you are interested, reach out, and I’d love to jump on a Zoom call to tell you more about the position.
Please note that the onboarding process requires background checks, CPR training, and other classes. It can take six to eight weeks, so realistically, this would be a March start date. This could be quicker if you’re already working for an agency.
