Contractor / Mobile Role – Flexible Hours
One Source Healthcare is Arizona’s leading provider of mobile optometry and podiatry services in nursing homes,
group homes, and skilled nursing facilities. We’re expanding our telehealth program and are seeking a Certified
Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) to perform on-site patient testing and imaging that supports remote optometric
care.
In this role, you’ll work independently in the field—gathering clinical data, conducting standard pre-tests, and using
portable diagnostic equipment to capture high-quality images for review by our licensed Optometrists. You will be
the eyes and hands on-site for our telehealth exams, ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and patient comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel to scheduled facilities with mobile equipment
Perform thorough patient intake and medical history collection
Administer visual acuity testing, intraocular pressure checks, pupil evaluation, etc.
Operate portable retinal cameras, auto-refractors, etc.
Capture retinal and anterior segment images and upload securely for provider review
Maintain patient records and assist with EMR documentation
Follow infection control and equipment maintenance protocols
Communicate professionally with care facility staff and remote optometrists
Required Qualifications:
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) through JCAHPO
1–2 years of relevant clinical experience (Telehealth or mobile care preferred)
Excellent bedside manner with elderly or cognitively impaired patients
Comfortable working independently in non-traditional settings
Basic technology skills: tablets, EMR, cloud uploads, digital camera operation
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to lift/transport equipment (25 lbs)
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or higher
Familiarity with tele-optometry workflows or portable diagnostic tools
Spanish or bilingual ability a plus
Compensation:
Contract/per patient model with pay per completed encounter
Training on portable equipment and telehealth protocols included
