Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.As an Engineering Team Lead, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring our cutting-edge Hydraulic Mining Shovels (HMS) machines run flawlessly.Your mission: lead the charge in issue management , swiftly resolving defects on both current production and new product introduction (NPI) machines.In this role, you'll take ownership of issue management, ensuring timely and effective resolution of defects. You'll work on the latest technology, pushing the boundaries of what's possible, and partner with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and excellence.What you will do:

Issue Tracking and Resolution: Facilitate the closure of technical issues identified during HMS New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, working closely with the NPI program manager and technical lead. Support multiple concurrent product development programs.

Expectation Setting: Establish clear expectations for all team members, ensuring thorough investigation and documentation for proper issue closure. Provide guidelines and coaching to ensure consistency across teams, which may include various engineering disciplines (structural, hydraulic, electrical, etc.), operations (quality, manufacturing, etc.), purchasing, and product support.

Resource Coordination: The Engineering Team Lead role does not include supervisory duties over direct reports. Instead, you will manage resources allocated to your program from various supporting organizations.

Collaboration and Decision Making: Foster collaboration and cooperation among teams, ensuring adequate input and timely decision-making to resolve issues according to program timelines.

Proactive Problem Solving: Identify roadblocks proactively and work with teams to resolve them quickly, enhancing overall team and program efficiency.

Meeting Facilitation: Conduct daily team meetings as needed to ensure issue status is understood, resolution plans are in place, and timelines are on track.

Reporting: Provide regular verbal and written updates to management and team members on issue status and closure timelines. Report progress during program gate reviews.

Networking: Develop strong networks to secure the resources and cooperation needed for team success.

What skills you will have:Technical Excellence: Extensive engineering experience and strong foundation in mechanical engineering concepts and their practical applications. Experience in more than one engineering area is highly desirable.Product Design and Development: The ability to draw upon foundational product development skills such as conceptual design, development of product, data analysis & extraction, failure resolution & prevention, and requirements management.Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.Influencing Through Expertise: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions within and outside own organization.Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities as needs arise.Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum.Top Candidates will also have:Hydraulic Mining Shovel or prior off-highway machine design experience.Knowledge of Caterpillar processes (i.e. NPI, CPPD, PPRD, APQP, CPI).Experience working in a global engineering environment.Experience in Creo / ProE and Teamcenter engineering systems.Additional Information:The primary location for this position is Tucson, AZ.Domestic relocation assistance is available.Occasional travel (10%) may be required to support activities at manufacturing and/or customer sites.Sponsorship is not available.Summary Pay Range:$108,360.00 - $162,480.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
