The Montessori Schoolhouse is seeking a certified Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. This person will work with students ages 5 - 13 who need extra support building literacy, writing, and math skills. Additionally, this role will provide dyslexia screenings and all SPED-related assessments within an existing Montessori culture of individualized education.
At The Montessori Schoolhouse, we believe that the most effective interventions are those that include the students in as much of the community-learning as possible, while prioritizing each student’s particular needs, strengths, and curiosities during independent work time.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Current Cross-Categorical or Mild/Moderate SPED Certificate K-12 for the State of Arizona
Must be curious about or experienced with Montessori Philosophy
Primary Job Responsibilities
Conduct dyslexia screenings and SPED-related assessments
Work with students with special needs in general education settings
Provide one-on-one support building literacy with a broad range of students
Provide one-on-one support in developing writing and math skills
Develop Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and manage associated student documentation (in partnership with third-party professionals)
Maintain confidentiality of student records and progress information
Perform other duties as requested
