Staff Accountant

Summary:Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the smooth running of the AP and AR functions, in addition to providing GL, compliance and business reporting support.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Accounts ReceivableCreate AR invoices daily to ensure timely issuance to customersPerform daily cash management/allocation transactionsCommunicate discrepancies between invoices and payments from customersMonitor and collect AR by contacting customers by email, phone or mailResolve ageing disputes with customersReconcile the General Ledger with the subledgerReview RMA query to ensure all credit memos have been createdAccounts PayableCo-ordinate and post AP invoices and prepare payments timelyIdentify areas of improvement and propose/implement solutionsMatches invoices against POs and resolves discrepanciesComputes and records charges, refunds, cost of lost or damaged goods, freight charges, rentals, and similar items.Reconciles general ledger accounts with AP subledgerManual non-PO invoice accrual journal entriesBankingReconciles bank accounts and post entries to ERP system timelyPrepare P-card and T&E card entries and month-end accrualsAdditional Duties Assigned: Prepare management reports and interpret data to improve decision makingReview work order variances and investigate root causesPrepare prepayment and accruals schedulesFAS fixed asset maintenance and monthly depreciationReport monthly utility consumption and hazardous waste dataAdhere to and improve internal financial and business process controlsFiling of tax and other government returns periodicallyMinimum Qualifications & ExperienceAccounting or Finance certification from a community college or equivalent practical experienceSolid, demonstrable understanding of finance and accounting principles3 years in a finance/accounting manufacturing environment.Intermediate-level Microsoft Excel skillsWorking knowledge of using an ERP system.Desired Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in an Accounting or Finance discipline5 years in a finance/accounting manufacturing environment.Prior Infor Syteline ERP usage would be an advantage.Required BehaviorsAble to think critically and laterally, with a mindset for continuous improvement.Demonstrates initiative in leading the team, non-Finance personnel and assigned projects.Diligent and thorough, with attention to detail.Positive attitude to work and willingness to grow in the role.Visible around the business in supporting, and where necessary guiding, other departments.
