Our client is looking to fill a very unique engineering position for someone who wants to work in "search engineering" with tools like Lucene and Solr. This is a role with a Fortune 500 financial company, the customized search functionality you create will be seen and used by millions worldwide. The Search team is a small, but widely respected group that works to build and manage the search tools necessary for their products to operate effectively. Building in Java and JavaScript, transforming and indexing swaths of data for search in LucidWorks Fusion, this system is going to be a unique challenge with massive impact. Note this contract will start working 100% remote and likely for the duration of the initial term to the end of the year. After conversion and in 2022 this team is looking to work part time remote and part time in office in the Phoenix valley, so strong preference will be given to local candidates or those willing to relocate by the end of the year. Required Skills & Experience
- 6+ years professionally as a Software or Data Engineer
- Experience with an object oriented language for API development like Java, Python, C, Golang, etc.
- Strong database skills - SQL and noSQL (big plus)
- Some understanding of ETL and/or data transformation
- Ability to develop and consume REST microservices
- Experience with Apache Solr and/or vended or open source search engines such as Lucidworks Fusion, IDOL, Lucene, or Elasticsearch
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to translate business-level requirements into workable technical solutions
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or similar, technical field
- Previous work building public-facing and large-scale search engines
- Keen understanding of how to work with and manipulate data at scale
- Dedicated experience with LucidWorks Fusion search platform
- Experience developing software in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Competitive Pay: Up to $80/hour, DOE
- Contract Duration: 6 Months minimum initiation term with possibility for conversion to direct-hire with a target date to convert by Dec 2021 / Jan 2022
