Earlier, quicker and more accurate!We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Biomarker Laboratory Manager to lead our new dynamic research team. The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of our laboratory, ensuring the accurate identification, analysis, and interpretation of biomarkers associated with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. This role is crucial for the advancement of our research and the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.Key Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate all laboratory activities related to biomarker research.

Supervise, teach and mentor laboratory technicians and junior researchers, providing guidance and support.

Oversee and performthe preparation and processing of biological samples, including blood, cerebrospinal fluid, and tissue.

Ensure the accurate and efficient execution of advanced laboratory techniques

Maintain rigorous documentation of experimental procedures, results, and protocols.

Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including scientists, clinicians, and external partners (e.g., industry, and clinical trials).

Stay current with advancements in Alzheimer's disease research and biomarker technology

Our commitment to excellence allow us to make a difference in people's lives every day.POSITION SUMMARYThis position will act as the LSA/SQL liaison for all research studies that involve clinical laboratory testing, specimen collection, and/or data analytics that is performed at one of our Banner Health facilities or Sonora Quest Laboratories. The clinical research program manager, in coordination with the individual facility, will determine the project’s feasibility, verify compliance with grant/contract and regulatory requirements, develop and manage project budgets, and provides input on the study design. This position will also assist in the development and successful execution of clinical research studies where LSA/SQL staff serves as the principle investigator (PI) or project lead, including but not limited to protocol design, study execution, preparation of required documentation, development of study’s final report and resulting study presentations and/or publications. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as professional standards.CORE FUNCTIONS1. Project Planning, Implementation & Quality AssurancePlans and facilitates monthly meetings with the LSA/SQL Research Committee to review research requests from internal and external clients. In coordination with the study lead or PI ensures that the timeline of the project is being met. Identifies and implements process changes to improve the research program. Creates and maintains policies and procedures for the department.2. CommunicationCommunicates and works effectively with all stakeholders within LSA/SQL – Senior Leadership Team, Enterprise Risk Management, Operations, Information Technology, Sales & Marketing, and Finance & Contracts.Establishes strong working relationships with both Banner Research and the University of Arizona Research, as well as other academic organizations, in vitro diagnostic companies, and other important stakeholders.Acts as the principal communication contact between study personnel, collaborators, and consultants.Develops and maintains communication platforms such as the LSA/SQL Research website.3. Financial ManagementMonitors costs, productivity and profitability using available financial tools. Prepares quarterly forecasts and makes recommendations to the director for strategic planning. Develops and maintains pricing and pricing strategies consistent with the sales compensation plan for laboratory tests and services. Manages accounts payable including check requests, invoices and internal transfers for research-related studies. Verifies all expenditures and maintains a balanced study budget. Prepares the annual operational/capital budget.4. Regulatory ComplianceHas as significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures associated with clinical trials and basic research studies. Has a working knowledge regarding applicable clinical research regulatory requirements. Manages all study-generated documentation as specified by study sponsor and compliance requirements. Ensures compliance with the Institutional Review Board and HIPAA regulations.5. Research and AnalysisPerforms moderately complex to highly complex laboratory testing as specified in the study protocol.As project needs dictate, conduct analysis and interpretation of data.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESMATRIX OR INDIRECT REPORTINGMedical students and Residents performing research projects under Banner PI.TYPE OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESOversees the activities of various staff.SCOPE AND COMPLEXITYSystem-wide responsibility and involvement in intra-departmental and inter-departmental communications and activities. Internal customer-all employees within Laboratory Sciences of Arizona and Banner Health Medical Centers. External Customers-Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic companies, regulatory agencies (WIRB),Non-Banner medical personnel, supply vendors and equipment maintenance personnel.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures associated with clinical trials and basic research studies

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent analytical/strategic skills

Ability to prioritize and effectively perform multiple tasks simultaneously

Good working knowledge of finance, including budgeting and cost control

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in life/health sciences or related field.

Four (4) years of clinical research experience including experience in clinical operations.

Demonstrated ability in preparing study budgets and working with sponsors.

Must qualify as a Technical Supervisor as defined under CLIA ’88.

Strong organization and documentation skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Superior problem-solving capability.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Working knowledge regarding applicable clinical research regulatory requirements.

Comfortable and capable of learning new methodologies and operating systems in a timely manner, including multiple Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional related education and/or research experience.

CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Imitative (CITI) current certification.

Master’s Degree in a related field.
