Summary: Under general supervision, operates sanitation truck on established route to collect refuse from residential and commercial customers; loads material using mechanized devices and by hand; maintains truck and makes repairs to dumpsters.

Operates sanitations trucks to pick up refuse along established residential and commercial routes; completes routes within established schedules; performs runs for missed collections; transports waste to transfer site.
Load refuse by hand in areas that are not accessible to trucks; picks up and loads yard debris; picks up large items that cannot fit into trash cans and dumpsters; inspects and maintains the cleanliness of pick up areas.
Inspects vehicle daily to ensure safe operation; performs routine maintenance and cleaning on a weekly basis; observes all traffic laws and operating procedures to maintain the safety of co-workers and the public.
Delivers dumpsters and containers to customers; positions in areas determined to be accessible and clear of potential hazards; notifies supervisor of any potential hazards observed.
Repairs dumpsters and containers as necessary; welds new panels to replace damaged panels; repairs dumpster lids and replaces as necessary; performs general cleaning and maintenance at the sanitation yard.
Oversees Department of Corrections inmate labor as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
One (1) year of experience in the use and operation of refuse collection equipment.
State of Arizona Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
