Summary: Under general supervision, operates a variety of vehicles and medium and heavy motorized equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, alleys, grounds and rights of way; performs routine vehicle and equipment inspection; and performs manual labor to complete re-pairs.

Operates a variety of vehicles and motorized equipment, including bulldozers, backhoes, street sweepers, rollers, dump trucks and front-end loaders.
Operates medium and large trucks to haul equipment, materials and supplies to the job sites.
Performs safety checks before operating equipment and moving to job site; reports equipment problems to garage staff.
Observes all safety regulations and procedures in equipment operation and other assignments.
Repairs potholes and makes other repairs in streets, rights of way and storm drains.
Repairs sidewalks, storm drains and retaining walls.
Checks traffic control signs for condition and visibility; repairs and remounts signs and installs new signs as necessary; paints crosswalks and curbing.
Operates jackhammers, mowers, weed eaters and other small equipment to maintain streets, wastewater lagoons and other City rights of way.
Ensures proper signage is posted at work sites and maintains traffic control.
Prepares gravesites at the City cemetery.
Hauls refuse, brush, rock, dirt and other debris.
Performs manual labor as needed.
Oversees Department of Corrections inmate labor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in the use and operation of medium and heavy motorized equipment and vehicles.
State of Arizona Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
