Under the direction of the school Assistant Principal, the Interventionist is responsible for assisting students who have been identified as needing additional academic support based on a diagnosed learning disability. Based on the learning need, the Interventionalist will develop either a CAP or a CAMP which specifies the type of support the student will receive in the main classroom and the resource program. Identified students will receive small group pull-out instruction in reading, writing, and math.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this Ministerial Position:
Assist classroom teachers to develop and implement Tier 1 classroom-based, developmentally appropriate instruction & interventions for individual students and groups of students to improve learning and behavior in the classroom
Follow policies and procedures for identifying students in need of Title I CAP and special education services
Plan and facilitate all special needs referrals, instruction related to individual learning plans (CAP Plans), intervention meetings, and follow up for students with academic and behavioral needs in collaboration with parents/guardians, school, and district personnel
Work with classroom teachers to facilitate referral requirements for special education, CAP and Title I services
Maintain up-to-date documents related to student services
Establish clear instructional objectives for individual and small group instruction and interventions for students in Tier 2 and 3
Provide explicit evidence-based instruction and intensive intervention to students individually and/or in small groups at Tiers 2 and 3
Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
A working knowledge of administering DIBELS
A working knowledge of crafting and implementing 504s and IEPs
Complete a criminal history and background check
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Institution
Certified by the State of Arizona as a Teacher
Other/Preferred Skills:
Special Education Experience
