This is an entry level position and no previous experience is needed, since the company does the necessary training. There are multiple career paths for growth. Job Summary / Overview:

Provide recovery support services in various settings to peers within the community to support, educate and provide services to advance recovery and wellness.

Quality wellness services to promote recovery and deliver the message that mental health recovery is not a remission or a miracle cure, but the process of living a fulfilling life despite illness and loss.

The Behavioral Health trainee will receive instruction in and receive a Peer Support certification, as well as CPR and First Aid training and many more levels of programs to assistant our Wellness Center members. Additional training will also include wrap around services for our members in our housing program to assist them in achieving a variety of positive preferences and lifestyles, and is a role model to peer member’s; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serves as a peer advocate, supporter, also providing information and peer support for people in outpatient and inpatient settings.

In this position you will perform a wide range of tasks to assist adult Peers in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. You will understand how the services provided impact recovery and assist a peer to advance in recovery and self-manage their recovery. You will be able to document the value of the services provided to provide evidence of outcomes in recovery.

Work will be performed in a wide range of settings.

Success in the role is measured on:

Ability to:

Provide quality services without judgment or personal agenda.

Model recovery and set appropriate boundaries.

Identify a peer’s unique strengths and pathway to recovery.

Run groups.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching and role modeling.

Articulating personal goals for recovery through the use of one-to-one and group sessions and during these sessions support peers in identifying and creating goals and developing wellness plans with the skills, strengths, supports and resources to aid them in achieving those goals.

Sustaining and joining self-help (mutual support) groups, including existing groups in wellness center, the community and clinics.

Working with their case manager or treatment team to determine the steps he/she needs to take in order to achieve their goals needed for their self-directed recovery

Assisting members on building social skills with other peers to shape a support network in the community and build citizenship and if needed the skills that would enhance job acquisition and tenure.

Help the peer members develop empowerment skills to use in fighting stigma through self-advocacy, accomplished through regular meetings, individual or group sessions.

Develop the member’s ability to role play and model techniques to provide opportunities to show/demonstrate how they have handled related recovery problems and were able to present themselves in certain situations, or how to handle problems that may arise in interactions with others.

Other duties may be added as needed.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:

Valid Arizona Driver’s License.

Clear a background investigation and drug test.

Pass a TB test.

If in recovery, must have one year of stability.

Education / Certifications:

HS Diploma or GED

CPR/1st Aid a plus, but not needed for hire.

Current Peer Support Specialist Certification a plus. but not necessary for hire.
