BluePearl Pet Hospital in Scottsdale is looking for a Kennel Assistant / Veterinary Assistant to join our Internal Medicine department!

If you are seeking an opportunity with a team that inspires growth working in a collaborative environment, we want to hear from you.A Kennel Assistant attends to the basic needs of animals that are patients of the hospital and cleans the hospital facility, equipment, and tools. The role may include assistance with basic patient care such as the safe restraint of patients during treatment.Animal handling experience preferred.As a Kennel Assistant, you will:

Observe patients for obvious signs of health concerns and report any findings to senior staff.

Clean and disinfect areas of the hospital as often as is necessary to maintain high standards of care.

Prepare patient meals, clean patient cages,and bedding, andmaintainlitter boxes.

Safely approach and restrain cooperative patients as needed during treatments.

Provide routine attention to patients, including walking dogs.

Effectively clean andmaintainhospital equipment and tools.

Quantify patient voids and report findings to senior Veterinary Assistant or Technician.

Remove and wash soiled laundry and keep clean laundry stocked.

Patrol facility regularly to ensure cleanliness.

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.As a Veterinary Assistant, you will:

Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.

Understand classification ofcommonly usedmedications, associated sideeffectsand appropriatelymonitorstherapeutic response.

Administer medications viaappropriate routesand duration.

Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratoryrateand effort.

Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment andassistwith patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.

Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines anddemonstratesproficiencyin designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
