Schedule:

Full Time / Monday - Friday / 8am-430pm

Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends preferred. For example: on rare occasions you may be asked to work at 6am or later in the evening such as 6:30pm. Plenty of advance notice provided for those times. Ability to come in "on-call" would be nice as well, but not necessary. Flexible is the quality this position needs.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor, provide non-emergency transportation service for residents. Serve as a representative of Royal Oaks, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with all residents and co-workers.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide transportation to residents to and from hospitals, doctor’s appointments, and grocery shopping or sponsored excursions.

Maintain radio contact with dispatcher for delivery instructions.

Fuel and clean vehicle as needed; responsible for routine maintenance, servicing and repairs of vehicles.

Ensure residents have seat belts fastened properly and wheelchair brakes are locked and secured in place.

Follow all applicable traffic and vehicular safety rules and regulations.

When necessary, lifts, moves, and transports residents, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices.

Follow facility policy and procedure for reporting and documenting any incidents/accidents or variances of standard operations.

Able to work within a time schedule with minimal supervision.

Full understanding of residents’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Is responsible for promptly reporting to the Director of Health and Residential Services or President/CEO incidents or evidence of resident abuse or a violation of residents’ rights.

Protects and promotes resident rights, including confidentially, privacy, dignity, and freedom from abuse.

Maintains the comfort, privacy, confidentiality and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services. Interacts with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment.

Maintains confidentiality for residents to meet HIPAA guidelines.

Ensures organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as federal, state, and local regulations are met and followed.

Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment. Reports all deficiencies to the appropriate person, such as equipment problems, need for repair or special needs of residents.

Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.

Has ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.

Attends and participates in training activities, meetings, and seminars as required.

Exhibits qualities of a team player, interacts courteously and appropriately, maintains a positive attitude. Addresses problems and conflicts in a professional and respectful manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Must be 21 years of age.

Ability to read maps and locate addresses.

Follow written and oral instructions.

Reaction time - The ability to quickly respond (with hand, finger, or foot) to one signal (sound, light, picture, etc.) when it appears.

Far and Near Vision – The ability to see things close at hand (such as signs) or at a distance.

Operation and Control – Controlling operations of equipment.

Equipment Maintenance – Performing routine maintenance checks and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.

Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.

Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.

Education and Experience:

Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in a commercial driving position or in a driving position in a senior community.

Licenses and Certifications:

Has CPR certification and First Aid certification card or can obtain them within 30 days of hire.

Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or apply for one within 20 days of hire.

Has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.

Preferably possess a valid CDL C driver’s license with P (passenger endorsement)

Physical Requirements:

Must carry/lift/push or pull loads of up to 50 pounds frequently.

May need to operate a fire extinguisher.

Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.

Work involves almost constant exposure to weather conditions while driving residents and with some work indoors in a climate controlled environment.

Physical exertion is present due to frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, walking, sitting, twisting or standing for prolonged periods of time; general manual dexterity required.
