Trailer Technician

Job Summary:

The Trailer Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of trailers by performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and executing repairs. The technician will work with various types of trailers, including flatbeds, boat, goosenecks, dumps and enclosed trailers.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance on trailers, including brakes, lights, and suspension systems.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and determine necessary repairs or replacements.

Welding & Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair trailer frames and other components.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance performed on each trailer.

Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and standards.

Customer Service: Communicate effectively with customers regarding trailer status, repair needs, and estimated costs.

Inventory Management: Manage parts inventory and order necessary components for repairs.

Collaboration: Work closely with other technicians and support staff to ensure efficient workflow.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in diesel mechanics or related field preferred.

Previous experience in trailer repair or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.

Proficient in using tools and equipment required for trailer repair.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver's license;

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

Willingness to work in various environmental conditions (outdoors, shops).

This role is critical in maintaining the reliability and safety of transportation fleets, ensuring that trailers are roadworthy and compliant with regulations.
