Automotive diagnostic technician and heavy line mechanic

Arizona, Phoenix, 85001 Phoenix USA
Aplica ya

Sundance Auto and Machine is looking for a few experienced automotive mechanics that strive to produce quality work at any cost. We are a family-owned business that has been under one owner for over 35 years in one location. We have a full-service machine shop on premises and are a one stop shop outside of paint and bodywork. We are open Tuesday through Friday, working ten-hour days (4-10s) so yes, that means a three-day weekend every weekend. Weekends are also usually available for additional overtime, but they are optional outside of all but the most extreme circumstances.

Pay range: $30-$40 per hour based on experience

We are looking to mainly fill two spots, one of which being an experienced diagnostic technician. The second of which being an experienced heavy line mechanic. If you have to ask yourself which one you are then you’re probably not who we’re looking for.

Desired qualifications are as follows:

Experience with vintage American vehicles is a huge plus. We work on a lot of older cars and trucks.

Ten years minimum experience in the automotive repair industry.

You must possess all your own tools; the shop will supply SOME specialty tools, but you are responsible for the bulk of your own tools.

Must be willing to show up and work all 4 days a week, 40 hours a week. As we’re only open 4 days a week reliable help is non-negotiable for me. Please be honest with us and yourself about this before wasting our time or yours.

ASE certifications/tech school are a plus, but not requirement.

For position regarding Diagnostic Technician;

You will need to already have an understanding of vehicular electronics and component testing.

You will need to be able to follow a diagnostic tree and be able to verify mechanical diagnosis as well.

The ability to diagnose suspension and alignment issues, being able to do alignments is a huge plus. We have a digital laser guided machine.

Ability to write/type in clear English what you have found on customers vehicles and the related fixes required to repair said vehicles.

You must also understand that you will be doing more than just diagnosis. Sometimes you will fix your own jobs, sometimes they will get handed off to someone else. This is not a strictly diagnostical position.

For position regarding Heavy Line Mechanic

You must have understanding of primary systems on light to medium duty trucks and general automotive vehicles including suspension components, engine and transmission assemblies, front and rear differential assemblies, dual tire style brake systems, etc. etc.

Must be able to both work under the hood and under the vehicle. You might be doing something as simple as a water pump or an entire suspension overhaul, all the way to entire engine and transmission swaps.

You must be physically able to do such work, if your back is out or your knee is bad, please discuss this with us when you’re being hired. These things will not disqualify you; we just ask you to be honest. We will always do the same with you. If your qualifications exceed your disability, then we will be 100% willing to work with you and make work arounds.

Please contact us with any questions, if you call the number posted on the ad then ask for John you will speak with the owner. If you want to swing by and see the shop we're located at 20th street and Van Buren. Thank you for looking at my listing, and thank you for your consideration.
