JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Medical Director, the massage therapists treat patients by manipulating the muscles and soft tissues of the body. The massage therapist goal is to relieve pain, help heal injuries, improve circulation, relieve stress, and increase relaxation of the patient.

As a representative of the facility, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors have a direct effect on the facility’s image and perceptions of quality service. Interaction via patients, families, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, volunteers, co-workers, supervisors, vendors, etc., must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative. end professional. This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork which is congruent with facility standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

· Provide massages to clients by appointment

· Take a detailed client history and note any health conditions

· Evaluate condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion

· Develop and propose treatment plan to determine which massages would benefit the most

· Massage and knead the muscles and soft tissues of the human body to provide treatment for medical conditions, injuries, or wellness maintenance

· Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as they desire

· Discuss with physicians and develop treatment plan

· Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records

· Advise clients on stretching, strengthening or relaxation methods

· Suggest future massage appointments and regimens

QUALIFICATIONS/POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· High School Diploma or Equivalent

· Successful completion of a massage therapy program

· Minimum of 500 hours of study

· Current message licensing

· Experience working in a medical/spa office preferred

· Knowledge of trigger point, sports, chair and deep tissue massage

· Knowledge of medical terminology desirable

· BLS Certification

The job holder must demonstrate competencies applicable to the job position.

B. Physical/Mental demands

Work may require hand dexterity for telephone and office machine operation, stooping, and bending to files and supplies, sitting for the extended periods of time, Manual dexterity for using a calculator and computer keyboard.

C. Environmental/Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent telephone contract with patients. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Contact involves dealing with sick people.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
