EMT/Security Officer

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Security Manager, the position entails protection of people and property while providing emergency medical care and security services.

Brief Overview of Major Duties (please see below for full job description):

-Fully embraces a culture of hospitality.

-Responds to emergency medical needs. Assess each call situation to determine best course of action. Develop and utilize triage skills to perform rapid treatment prior to arrival of Advanced Life Support (ALS).

-Patrols Royal Oaks property, on foot and in vehicle. Checks buildings and fence lines; responds to intrusions and fire alarms.

-Responds to security situations and alarm calls; assesses and resolves problems. Prevents unauthorized access to restricted areas, escorts personnel from building after normal business hours. Notifies company personnel regarding emergency situations.

-Enforces correction of infractions through verbal and written warnings. Notifies law enforcement services if assistance is needed.

-Prepares clear, concise, and accurate reports that include daily logs and reports of incidents that occur. Maintains comprehensive record keeping of all incidents and investigations.

-Acts to ensure that all property removal is conducted within appropriate policy requirements; identify products, tools, and materials to prevent unauthorized removal.

-Perform after-hours non-emergency transportation and light maintenance.

-Contacts scheduled on-call Maintenance person for emergency plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs.

-Is committed to keeping confidential and sensitive information.

-Is responsible for issuance and maintenance of all communication radios, keys, and golf carts.

-Is responsible for monitoring security systems including closed circuit television, intrusion, fire, and duress alarms.

-Required to operate/drive a golf cart for the purpose of transporting supplies around campus as needed. This may also include transporting employees, residents and/or guests when needed.

-Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Must have successfully completed an approved EMT training course.

Preferably has one year of experience as an EMT.

Licenses and Certifications:

Has a current and valid Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or apply for one within 20 days of hire.

Has current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification obtained in a classroom setting and in compliance with or endorsed by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or National Safety Council guidelines.

Has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.

Physical Requirements:

Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.

May need to operate a fire extinguisher.

Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.
