Assist the Process Control Engineer, plant supervision, basic maintenance responsibilities by performing routine, Preventive, and emergency maintenance of On-stream Analyzers (OSA) and Particle Size Monitors (PSM) to ensure the safe, economical and efficient operation of the quality control monitoring and fixing equipment. Assist the Metallurgical Engineer on optimizing the plant metallurgy by performing plant sampling, flotation testing, reagent testing, and particle size screen analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Maintain equipment operationally such as but not limited to: stream X-Ray analyzers and Particle size monitors, sound meters/ systems, etc.
· Provide physical and technical support for operations, mill repair, instrumentation/ process control departments.
· Obtains and coordinates all filed samples to conduct physical, chemical and process examinations, using metallurgical equipment and instruments. Writes reports indicating progress and results and provides them to appropriate departments.
· Prepares all samples of any concentrator stream for Met Lab and Chemical Assays.
· Operates and calibrates metallurgical equipment.
· Documents samples into database.
· Transports and keeps track of samples.
· Forwards sample results to appropriate department.
· Cleans equipment and around work areas.
· Manages and performs inspections and inventories.
· Develops new procedures for continuous improvements (SOPs, check lists, etc.).
· Monitor and perform routine calibration of the OSA units on a daily basis.
· Monitor and perform routine maintenance of the PSM units on a daily basis.
· Ensure all instrumentation is reading reliably and assist all involved departments on getting them back to OEM (original equipment manufacturer) standards.
· Efficiently troubleshoot and correct mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues with the OSA and PSM units with minimal supervision.
· Perform laboratory flotation tests with high precision.
· Perform laboratory Particle Size Screen Analysis test work.
· Perform plant sampling of process streams as directed by the Metallurgical Staff.
· Monitor the condition of the sampling, testing and titrating equipment used by the operators and replace as needed.
· Monitor the reagent and lime addition points and ensure proper delivery to the process streams on a daily basis.
· Safely and efficiently perform all job functions.
· · Comply with all local, state, and federal policies and regulatory agencies.
· Order materials and safety supplies pertaining to work scope through SAP.
· Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of metallurgical laboratory procedures and practices. General mechanical, electrical and instrumentation background and knowledge.
· Microsoft Office suite.
· Reading and understanding electrical schematics and drawings.
· Effective written and verbal communication in English.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED (required), 2 year Technical School in related field (preferred).
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in the field of mineral processing.
