Shift Supervisor

As a Shift Supervisor at Pet Supplies Plus, you will pawsitively love leading our eager team members as they provide exceptional neighborly service at every opportunity. As we plan to expand our presence in the Phoenix market, we are looking for a pet-loving, service-oriented leader, with aspirations of career growth with a pawsome company! As Shift Supervisor you will:
· Lead by example – including, but definitely not limited to, greeting a neighbor and their new puppy when they enter the store!
· Assist a neighbor in choosing the perfect toy for a lab who loves to fetch.
· Show a fourth grader how to test the water in his fish tank.
· Join the conversation when you hear a team member assisting a neighbor in choosing between three very good natural dog food brands.
· Assist the store’s team leaders by reinforcing the daily operational procedures and performance expectations.
· Create a fun, positive environment for the team and your neighbors; and a reputation for neighborly, knowledgeable, trustworthy, pet-centric service in your neighborhood!
Key Responsibilities
· Partnering with store team leaders to learn and reinforce the PSP standards and daily management routines that make your store the favorite pet store in the neighborhood!
· Providing leadership coverage and management functions up to four times a week when team leaders are offsite.
· Adherence to operational policies and procedures (cleanliness, animal care, safety and security) that ensure exceptional service is provided to our neighbors.
· Learning and performing back-office procedures – like making signs, updating price changes, and imputing cashier records – to comply with standards and expectations.
· Involvement in store recruiting, onboarding and team member development.
· Communicating opportunities to improve community engagement or store performance to the team leaders.
· Assisting neighbors, stocking shelves and maintaining live animals when not acting as the manager-on-duty or learning operational tasks.
· Maintaining expert product knowledge and keeping current with new product introductions.
Qualifications:
Have a genuine passion for pets and an interest in pet care and nutrition.
2+ years of retail experience and demonstrated leadership ability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Have solid communication skills with an attention to detail.
Ability to operate all equipment – including a forklift – to run the store is important, as well as being able to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds (that dog food can be heavy!)
Be able to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays as needed.
Be at least 18 years of age and able to successfully pass a background check.

Schedule:
7.5 – 8.0 hour shifts, variable based on store needs.
Store Hours are 8am – 8pm Mon – Sat and 9am – 6pm Sunday.
Some weekend schedules required.
Some holidays required.
