CATERING SERVER

AVAILABLE JOB OPENINGS: (Subject to Change)

- Part Time: Weekdays and Weekends Vary

- Shifts Vary and Hours between 600am-9pm

- Willing to work 2 to 4 shifts per week

- Willing to work under 30 hours total per week

- Willing to work at least 1 shift per weekend

- Willing to work most holidays

- When not working at a Catering event, will work as a Server in one of our 12 dining rooms

You will receive your weekly schedule, via a free Smart Phone App. Our schedules are given to you 3-weeks in advance so you will always know ahead of time when you will be working and at which dining room location.

Availability:

- Full time

- Monday thru Friday

- 9pm to 530am / OVERNIGHT SHIFT

- Must be willing to float around the campus working in various kitchens

- This position REQUIRES that your 2-weeks training period, working along side a Sous Chef, will be during the AM shifts, typically 6am - 2pm. It will be Sunday to Thursday for 2 weeks. You will be paid for this.

- Also, the Orientation will be approximately 2.5 days and it too will be in the AM, approximately 8am to 4pm, and it will be Mon, Tue, and a partial day on Wed. You will be paid for this.

- After you complete the 2-week Training and the 2.5 days of Orientation, you will then work your scheduled OVERNIGHT shift as listed above.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

Has a high school diploma or GED equivalent, or still attending high school

Preferably one year kitchen experience.

Preferably one year experience basic knife skills.

Preferably one year experience doing prep cook duties which include cutting & chopping meats, fish, fruits & vegetables.

Preferably one year experience performing basic cooking duties which includes roasting, grilling, steaming, sautéing & searing.

All our Dining Rooms close at either 7pm or 9pm

Full Time Only / Benefit Eligible (Blue Cross Blue Shield) / Medical, Dental,Vision - Benefits begin on the 1st of every month after your start date

In-Person interviews will be about 30 minutes interviewing with a Sous Chef, and immediately thereafter youi will be asked to prep various fruits, vegetables and/or meats. The entire interview will be approximately 90 minutes. Withing 24-hours after that interview, you will be notified of your status. We wish you the Best of Luck!

WHO ARE WE?

- We serve over 1300+ meals daily. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch.

- We have over 170+ Food Service Staff Members and we are growing.

- We have 12 onsite dining rooms, including Café Grill Dining, Casual Dining, Buffet Dining and High-End Scale Dining. Some dining rooms are small (seating for 40+) and some are large (seating for 100+).

- We have a brand new beautiful coffee bar.

- We have 7 kitchens, including 1 kitchen measuring at 4500 square feet and several smaller kitchens too. Some of our smaller kitchens only hold 2-10+ cooks and dishwashers per shift. Some of our larger kitchens hold 30-40+ cooks and dishwashers per shift.

- We have a brand new Culinary Building consisting of a 3200 square foot state-of-the-art culiary kitchen, including Award Winning high-end Hestan Appliances. Attached are 3 brand new restaurants, (named Indigo, Copper Skye and Azul) including outdoor seating with waterfalls, glass fire pits and lovely outdoor acoustics.

- We have a stone pizza oven that was hand made in Italy just for Royal Oaks. It was shipped over on a barge ship that took several months to arrive. Master your pizza skills learning to cook in this magnificent stone pizza oven.

- We have an Executive Chef and 4 Sous Chef's, all of which were promoted from our internal cooking staff members. You too can grow with us!

- We have several cooks that have been working at Royal Oaks between 15 to 38 years each!

- We have a large Catering Department for onsite private events for our residents and staff members serving over 100+ on-campus events every year! Some events are very small, some rather large! Some indoors and some outdoors.

- We are only 1 of a hand-full of Retirement Communities in AZ that have robots serving hot plates of food to our residents in our 12 dining rooms.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Catering Manager, responsibilities will include but are not limited to, setting up places at dining tables, taking orders, serving food, serving drinks and answering inquiries about the menu. Provides high quality, friendly service to residents and guests of Royal Oaks in the dining areas and at special functions.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Answers questions about food and drinks including their ingredients, preparation and accompanying items.

Attends to residents’ needs when delivering food and checks to ensure guest satisfaction.

Sets up and cleans up under the direction of the catering coordinator for all events.

Ensures all catering items are cleaned, collected, and returned to the correct storage areas as indicated by the catering coordinator.

Serves private dining room guests when dinners are scheduled.

Assist Catering Coordinator in inventorying all catering items.

Consistently complies with Arizona State Department of Health Service standards. Ensures the safe and proper handling of all food items according to HACCP. Adheres to safety practices and procedures.

Attends shift meetings according to shift schedule.

Keeps the Food Service Management Team promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.

Maintains confidentiality for resident to meet HIPAA guidelines.

Full understanding of residents’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Is responsible for promptly reporting to the Director of Health Services, Director of Resident Services, or Chief Executive Officer (CEO) incidents or evidence of resident abuse or a violation of residents’ rights.

May perform other duties such as assigned.

Attends and participates in training activities, meetings and seminars and assists other departments as needed.

Exhibit qualities of a team player and interacts courteously, appropriately with patience and concern for the needs of the elderly and maintains a positive attitude while interacting with residents, guests, families, and co-workers.

Addresses problems and conflicts in a professional and effective manner with supervised staff, allowing for opportunities of learning and growth, and facilitating such opportunities in a respectful manner.

Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment. Reports all deficiencies to the appropriate person, such as equipment problems, need for repair or special needs of residents.

Busser

Ensures residents and guests are seated at a clean and properly set table within the shortest amount of time possible.

Sets up the bus stand, restocks and prepares bus stand for shift change or close.

Properly completes service sequences, i.e., butter service, water service.

Empties trash and spot sweeps the dining room.

Prepares coffee and iced tea and restocks during the shift.

Offers assistance to residents and guests by clearing away dishes and glassware and refilling beverages.

Cleans and sanitizes throughout the shift.

Food Runner

Expedites orders from the kitchen to all dining areas.

Coordinates the assembly of resident delivery meals; checks all meals for accuracy; ensures the timely delivery and retrieval of all room service orders.

Helps set Buffet tables and decorations. Replenishes food as necessary.

Cuts, portions, assemble, garnishes, dessert menu items for assigned service periods.

Completes scheduled and assigned cleaning duties. Maintains work area in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner at all times. Is responsible for the cleanliness of the service side of the kitchen line and service work stations.

Knowledge and Skills:

Has knowledge of Maricopa County food regulations and sanitation requirements.

Obtains a Maricopa County food handler’s card within 30 days of employment.

Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.

Education and Experience:

Has a high school diploma or GED equivalent, or still attending high school

Preferably has 2 years’ experience working in a formal dining environment.

Communication Skills:

Has a clear speaking voice, and is fluent in English. Being bilingual would be a plus.

Has ability to speak, work, and interface with all levels of co-workers, residents, guests, and employees.

Has ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Demonstrates excellent customer service etiquette.
