Job Title: Traffic EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Traffic Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and developing traffic and safety projects, preparing various traffic-related studies and reports, and providing technical assistance and quality control oversight. This role requires a strong experience in traffic engineering and a commitment to improving transportation systems.Responsibilities
Serve as Project Manager, Project Lead, or Task Lead in the development of traffic and safety projects.
Prepare traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrant studies, intersection design studies, safety studies, bicycle planning, and technical report writing.
Prepare traffic signal design plans for new and modified intersections, construction sequencing, pavement marking plans, signing plans, and traffic control plans.
Provide technical assistance and quality control oversight on traffic engineering studies and design projects managed by other project managers and task leads.
Provide traffic engineering support to local and national practice areas.
Essential Skills
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain it within the first 6 months of employment.
Proficiency with OpenRoads (MicroStation software) at a 6/10 level.
At least 4 years of traffic engineering experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
2+ years of experience supervising and mentoring engineers.
4+ years of relevant experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems.
Arizona Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Membership in ITE or other professional organizations aligned with traffic engineering is a plus.
Master of Science in Civil Engineering is a plus.
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) or Road Safety Professional 1 (RSP1) certification is a plus.
Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the AASHTO Green Book.
Direct experience with DOT, local county, municipal, and/or developer-driven transportation and traffic projects preferred.
Proficiency with SYNCHRO, HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM, CORSIM or other traffic capacity and analysis software.
Working knowledge of MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or other advanced software packages preferred.
Work EnvironmentThis position offers a hybrid work schedule at our Phoenix, AZ location, with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. Employees also enjoy every other Friday off.
