AECOM is currently seeking candidates to become a Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer to support mining, geotechnical, and civil infrastructure projects in our Phoenix offices. The qualified candidate shall have a minimum of 2 years of experience with a strong background in geotechnical investigation practice. The position requires effective verbal skills to communicate with internal teams and clients. Written communication skills in the form of technical reports are a must. Additional experience preferred includes: task management, geotechnical analytical skills, geologic modeling, and experience in geotechnical laboratory testing.Responsibilities of the role will include:Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.Candidate will have an opportunity to be involved in the construction of in-house designs, which will build on existing client relationships and lead to future projects.Engage in regional projects with other offices and disciplines.Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.Identifies discrepancies in results.Provides guidance to entry level engineers.Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.Execute project assignments while utilizing critical thinking, engineering procedures to carry out project tasks.Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.Recognize potential opportunities for additional work within an existing project or for an existing client.Use computer programs including GeoStudio, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, Plaxis, Settle3, and MathCAD for geotechnical analyses.Preparing Project Work Plans and Health and Safety Plans.
