Read more: careers.bms.com/working-with-us .Purpose and Scope of PositionThe Senior Buyer is responsible for interpreting and analyzing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) demand requirements and planning/procuring one or more of the following:Finished Product, Bulk Product, API, Raw Material, Components, Operating Supplies, Equipment, and Maintenance supplies to support the manufacturing facility located in Phoenix.Since there are various materials are needed to support the production requirements at thePhoenix site, coordination and timing are required to meet the production needs.The main goal of the Sr Buyer is to have their assigned materials released and available for use for the site's end use customers when those internal customers require them and in the quantities that are required.Required Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Basic knowledge of cGMP, OSHA, USP, and EP.

Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts of materials requirements, planning, and procurement including: inventory management, cycle counts, expediting, and order placement

Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.

Intermediate knowledge of the full range of concepts, practices in the materials planning field, including reorder point planning, contract communication/execution.

Intermediate written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to understand a solve complicated supply and demand problems.

Ability to effectively communicate problem statements and viable solution options usingpro vs. con and cost vs. benefit approaches.

Intermediate oral, written, and interpersonal skill s.

Able to present data and analyses in an organized, clear, and concise manner.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaterials and Suppliers

Place Orders via Purchase Order Line Item Releases.

Monitor product life cycles and alerts the appropriate team members to any actionable inventory needs including: return of merchandise to supplier due to quality issues, delivery terms, etc.

Conduct investigations and root cause analysis on any supply disruptions or material quality issues and report out on corrective actions.

Understanding and management of expiration due dates and drive mitigation plans to prevent expiring material.

Identifies, escalates, and resolves material shortages before they affect production.

Researches potential suppliers and negotiates all service contracts (e.g., housekeeping, waste removal, office equipment and uniforms).

Reviews MRP requirements and available reports to determine material supply needs, and takes appropriate actions to meet those needs.

Leads and participates in cross-functional teams/activities to improve systems or performances (e.g., cycle counts, training and manual inventory of Production supplies).

Liaise with internal stakeholders with cGMP documentation related to material commodities.

Significant impact on team and department performance.

Contributes to continuous improvement exercises.

Completes work independently, seeking guidance on more complex tasks.

Makes non-routine decisions within their subject matter expertise area comfortably.

Viewed as a subject matter expert.

Leads and contributes to the development of procedures. Proactively identifies problems and recommends solutions. May oversee internal and external resources.

Strong Communication skills. Good political savvy.

Takes action in support of new product launches and/or special projects (e.g., participates in planning meeting and readjusts purchasing plans, ensures specifications are in place and approved by supplier).

System Settings, Other

Maintains system planning parameters (e.g., lot size, lead time and safety stocks) and performs tracking through the material control checklist.

Performs other tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Business Management/Business Administration

5 years relevant work experience required.

APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) or ISM (Institute for Supply Management) certification preferred.

SAP/Oracle/Track-wise/PeopleSoft experienced preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

Working Conditions

The incumbent must analyze complex numerical values on a daily basis.

The incumbent will be required to work in an office/cubicle environment with nearby conversations and noise.

The incumbent often works for extended periods alone, up to 8 hours per shift.

The incumbent will be required to work in an office/cubicle environment and occasional conference room settings.
