Medical AssistantJob DescriptionThe Medical Assistant provides a basic level of patient care and treatments. You will assist with obtaining vital signs, document the chief complaint and all actions taken, and alert the physician of any problems, concerns, or abnormalities. Additional duties include obtaining patient history, assisting physicians, residents, and licensed nursing personnel, setting up exam/procedure rooms, obtaining lab specimens, and accurately filling out requisitions. The Medical Assistant II also functions more independently and coordinates the workflow of other Medical Assistants when necessary. Front desk duties such as registration, check-in, and scheduling of patients are also part of the role.Responsibilities

Provide basic patient care and treatments.

Obtain vital signs and document chief complaints and actions taken.

Alert physician of any problems, concerns, or abnormalities.

Assist with obtaining patient history.

Support physicians, residents, and licensed nursing personnel.

Set up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures.

Obtain lab specimens and fill out requisitions accurately.

Function independently and coordinate workflow of other Medical Assistants when necessary.

Obtain authorization for referrals in small clinics.

Conduct front desk duties such as registration, check-in, and scheduling of patients.

Essential Skills

Medical assisting

Electronic health record management

Patient care

Patient intake

2+ years of Medical Assistant experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of a U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program

American Heart Association BLS card

Experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients

Work Site:This is a fully on-site position in the central PHX area. Schedule:Monday - Thursday schedule starts at 7:30am and work hours vary depending on if the doctor is in the office or not. Friday shifts are shorter. Either 7:30am - 1pm or 11:30am - 5pm.
