Super User of EMR & EPM (Cerner & aIDX). Provides mentoring of new hires, as appropriate, and acts as an internal on-the job resource and support for other EMR & EPM users. This floating back and front office position also assists with referrals and authorizations, as well as work tasks as needed. Provides basic level of patient care and treatments. Assists with obtaining vital signs, documents chief complaint and all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with obtaining patient history, assists physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simplepatient procedures, sets up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures, prepares and may include administrating medications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician. Obtains lab specimen and fills out requisitions completely and accurately. In addition to the above, the Medical Assistant III functions more independently and coordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary. Also conducts front desk duties such as registration/insurance verification, check-in and scheduling of patients.

Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol.

Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments, and procedures as requested.

Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies.

Assists in patient/equipment preparation.

Performs follow-up actions as directed.

Completes hospital forms per protocol.

Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols.

Monitors and records patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADLs I & O activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care.

Records readings in accurate and timely manner.

Assists with patient admission, discharge, and transfer.

Initiates orders according to SJHMC time performance standards-STAT-Within 5 minutes, Discharge/Transfer-within 10 minutes, Routine-Within 30 minutes.

Conducts front desk duties as needed (Check-in, registrations, insurance verification and scheduling appointments).

Obtains authorization and referrals as needed.

Completes full-patient registration in aIDX when registering new patients. Ensures all patient information is updated and current when following up/interacting with patients. Verify insurance eligibility and/or benefits.

Uses aIDX system according to policy & procedure, including patient registration, scheduling appointments, template oversight (as applicable), printing forms and schedules, posting payments and charge reconciliation, and reporting any issues with system. Effectively utilizes aIDX downtime procedures as needed.

Attends additional Cerner (EMR) & aIDX (EPM) advanced training courses to keep current and maintain Super User status.

Provides mentoring for new hires and serves as an internal support and resource for other Cerner and aIDX users.
