Manages daily and strategic operations of scientific research divisions of Neurobiology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery.

Works closely with Manager-Grants Operations to ensure all subordinate divisions are in compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines pertaining to budget expenditures, IRB, IACUC, and federal, state, and private grants.

Manages output of three subordinate supervisors to ensure all operational needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Manages grant application & renewal submissions fiscal reports accounts receivables and assists the faculty to ensure adequate time and effort reporting to ensure continued support for grant funded programs. Analyzes and evaluates contract and grant budgets for correct calculation of expenditure categories such as salaries percent of effort salary adjustment increases fringe benefits indirect costs materials and equipment.

Guides and facilitates faculty and staff in the development preparation and submission of research proposals contracts subcontracts and agreements to funding agencies. Responsibilities include the development and implementation of policies and procedures to formalize SJHMC/BNI grant submission & grant activity process to ensure compliance with federal & state statutes.

Assists in the formulation of processes and procedures for negotiation of contract and grant pre and post awards to meet institutional requirements. Coordinates receipt of awards and contract execution. Maintains proposals and funding records and works to automate grant management systems.

Prepares scheduled and special reports to funding agencies. Works to create internal reporting methodologies including quarterly metric reports to assess grant activity and funding capacity to manage resources and expenditures with an eye toward forecasting of future funding needs to sustain grant funded programs. Monitors grant funded expenses verifies availability of funds and allowable expenses as dictated by funding agency.

QualificationsEducation and Experience:

Bachelors degree or a combination of education and/or additional job related experience in lieu of the degree.

Minimum of three (3) years experience in related field required. Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience required.

Knowledge of and previous exposure to federal agency processes required.

Master's Degree Strongly preferred.
