Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 6:00am - 5:30pm EST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.We offer weeks of paid training. The hours during training will be 6:00am – 5:30pm EST, Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.Primary Responsibilities:

Demonstrate understanding of the factors that may drive customer requests.

Gather appropriate data/information and perform initial investigation to determine scope and depth of request.

Identify underlying questions/issues.

Identify and coordinate internal resources across multiple departments to address client situations and escalate to appropriate resources as needed.

Proactively contact external resources as needed to address customer requests.

Utilize appropriate knowledge resources to drive resolution of applicable requests.

Identify and communicate steps/solutions to customer requests, applying appropriate problem-solving skills and established guidelines, where available using appropriate contact channels

Offer additional options to provide solutions for customers.

Make outbound calls to clarify customer requests.

Ensure proper documentation of customer request.

Communicate common problems/questions presented by customers to appropriate Subjects Matter Experts and other internal stakeholders, to drive continuous improvement (e.g., trends, patterns)

Educate/empower customers to enable them to more effectively access our products/services, as applicable.

Refer customers to other resources applicable to their requests, where appropriate

Provide training/mentoring to other team members, as needed (e.g., new-hires, refresher training)

Achieve applicable performance metrics established for the function.

High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience

1+ years of experience in a customer service-related environment

Experience using computer and Windows PC applications including strong keyboard and navigation skills

Experience using a computer and Microsoft Office - Microsoft Word (create correspondence and work within templates), Microsoft Excel (data entry, sort / filter, and work within tables), and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)

Must be 18 years of age OR older

Ability to work Monday - Friday an 8 - hour shift between the hours of 6:00am – 5:30pm EST

Telecommuting Requirements:

Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)

Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.

Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Soft Skills:

Ability to multi-task including the ability to understand multiple products and multiple levels of benefits within each product

Ability to solve simple problems

Ability to proactively identify solutions to non-standard requests.

Ability to manage customer conversations appropriately (e.g., provide a good first impression, command attention and respect, maintain professional tone, demonstrate confidence, de-escalate/defuse customers as needed)

Ability to remain focused and maintain ongoing communications with customers during the resolution process to communicate status updates and other required information (if applicable).

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Washington or Rhode Island Residents Only: The hourly range for California / Colorado / Connecticut / Hawaii / Nevada / New York / New Jersey / Washington / Rhode Island residents is $16.00 - $23.94 per hour.
