Job Description

The COO provides day-to-day leadership and management to ensure the fulfillment of Native Health's mission and core values. The position is responsible for driving Native Health to achieve and surpass strategic planning goals and objectives as established by the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors. The COO leads, in collaboration with the operations team, the development and implementation of strategic short- and long-term plans to ensure efficiency in the operations of Native Health. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Leads operational planning and implementation strategies.
  2. Monitors operational and financial performance, evaluates outcomes, and provides improvement recommendations.
  3. Provide day to day operational leadership.
  4. Ensures compliance with accreditation agencies, regulations, contracts, grants, and other obligations.
  5. Leads and manages staff as assigned.
  6. Supports the organization as needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in health care management required. Experience in FQHC and/or urban Indian health center preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strategic short and long range planning in a healthcare setting.
  • Extensive experience in the management of clinical and patient support organizations. Demonstrated experience in leading innovative strategies to enhance the service and quality of operations utilizing a team approach.
  • Must have a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid AZ driver license during employment. Must be insurable by NATIVE HEALTH liability auto policy.
  • Must pass a criminal background check with a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Must pass a drug and alcohol testing upon employment and random testing during the course of employment.
  • Must have updated Immunization (IZ) record.
  • Must have a current (within 12 months) Tuberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an update annually.
  • Must obtain a CPR Certificate within ninety (90) days of employment and maintain a valid card during employment.

  8. Able to create processes and structures to facilitate effective communication both internally and externally.
