Job Description: Drafter - Structural Engineering Firm (Full or Part-Time)
Position Summary:
You will be responsible for creating and modifying detailed structural drawings and plans based on engineering designs and specifications. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other professionals to ensure accurate and efficient drafting processes that support the successful completion of a wide range of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and Detailing: Produce accurate, high-quality structural drawings, plans, and details based on engineering calculations, sketches, and specifications.
Collaboration: Work closely with structural engineers to understand project requirements and deliver drawings that meet design intent.
Revisions and Updates: Revise drawings and documents as needed based on feedback from engineers and project managers.
Code Compliance: Ensure all drafting work complies with industry standards.
Project Coordination: Coordinate with other disciplines (architectural, designer, etc.) to ensure integration and accuracy of drawings across the entire project.
Quality Control: Perform thorough quality control checks on drawings to identify and resolve any discrepancies, errors, or omissions.
Documentation: Maintain organized and up-to-date project files, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence, following company standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in structural drafting, with a focus on commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, RISA, Bluebeam and Microsoft.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of drafting and design.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, and clients.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to design and drafting.
Team-Oriented: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: Certification as a CAD Technician or similar certification is a plus.
