Job Description

Position Title: DistributionSupervisor

Reporting Structure: Distribution Services Manager, District Manager

Peer Positions: Product Supervisors

Scope of Position: Directs distribution activities for Branch/Facility

Responsibilities:

Labor Management: Oversees the planning of staffing levels of distributionoffice personnel and warehouse personnel. Supervisory / managementresponsibilities for distribution office and warehouse personnel. Periodicallyevaluate employees and complete performance evaluations for employees.Interviews & participates in hiring of distribution/warehouse personnel

Operations: Reviews records/reports for accuracy of information andcompliance with established procedures. Reviews records/reports to determinereasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records andrecommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow. Issues written and oral instructions. Participate in Distribution services rate quoting process Pro-actively checking and monitoring financial reports and always looking for productivity gains in processes. Needto have the right communication and management skills to deal with 3PLpersonnel.

Documentation/ Records: Completes all necessary records and reports in a timely andaccurate fashion. Computes and analyzes daily, weekly production metrics. Recommendsremedial actions to resolve any discrepancies that occur. Maintains all of therequired documents (POD …etc.).

Safety, Sanitation, Security: Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area. Assists inmaintaining warehouse security as per Expeditors’ requirements. Conductsoperations in a manner that promotes safety and in accordance with OSHA andother appropriate standards.

Communication: Attends warehouse planning meetings. Acts as a liaisonbetween employees and management. Communicates industry and brand knowledge toassociates. Issues written and oral instructions. Abides by the ExpeditorsInternational policy and procedures, and all security-related matters andenforces it on the employee level, and maintains a secure environment

Retention: Assists in following-up on current customers and conducting Quality Management Reviews (QMRs). Directs and controls the release of orders to shipping to ensure timely delivery to customers and meet company efficiency goals. Directs and oversees order processing and ensures that dataentries on documents such as Delivery Orders and inventory reports are accurateand timely. Makes recommendations to senior management on programs to improvethe operation of the customer service function. Interacts with credit andcollections personnel regarding payment problems.

Relationships: Internal-Support sales staff by following up on possible sales leads, attend functions as a member of trade associations, conduct tours of the warehouse, make customer calls, and forward information regarding requests by customers for service to the sales staff. Assist in executing company’s marketing plan. Interacts with other departmental management to achieve goals. Attends warehouse planning meetings.

Floor: Works with receiving, put away, picking, shipping and inventory control.

Quality: Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures

Customer Service: Continually maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all customers. Focus on customer service, sales and retention. Conduct Quality Management Reviews (QMRs) and retention calls with customers and vendors. Need to have the ability to prepare presentations forcustomers.

Qualifications

A. Education (preferred level) college degree . High School diploma(required).

B. Experience (minimum level of direct experience in a similar position) 2 years. Warehouse supervision experience required.

C. Knowledge/ Skills: Requires good supervisory and communication skills. Familiarity with personal computers and material handling equipment is essential. Strong decision-making and coaching skills. Able to drive results. Good, working knowledge with any Warehouse Management System.

Flexible, problem-solver, sense of urgency, quick thinker, “street-smart,” organized

Must be capable of sitting, standing and walking for extended periods Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis. Must be able to use proper lifting techniques. Familiarity with MHE is required. Must be able to handle stress caused in meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements. Must be able to shift priorities easily.

  • PC,MS OS, MS Office Software - strong MS Excel skills required
  • Customer Service skills to deal with branch personnel and external customers

D. Special Requirements: Must have excellent work habits. Must pass a background checkif applicable in state, region or geography. Spanishability required.

Fluent in Spanish and English required. Both written and verbal.
