Job Purpose: Performs various types of welding, drilling, grinding, cutting, and machining operations as needed to keep Hunter Contracting Co. assets in working order. Works in shop and field to fabricate and assemble job specific items Roles, Duties, & Responsibilities:

Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding by applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.

Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.

Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torch, straightening press, and handtools.

Inspects and makes minor repairs needed to welding and fabrication equipment.

Repair water truck tanks and fabricate new truck builds.

Keeps up with new welding and fabrication equipment and its application.

Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Adhere to all Hunter Contracting Co. safety policies, procedures, and instructions from management.

Work Qualifications:

Ability to operate various gas and electric welding cutting equipment.

Ability to read basic drawings and turn them into finished products. This includes being able to make a materials list, select proper procedures for project, and carry out project to completion.

Ability to know what is available to be used to overcome any specific problems.

Ability to operate basic metalworking machinery to complete project. This includes, but is not limited to, saws, grinders, drills, presses, shears, etc.

Ability to repair worn items with welding and hard facing as required.

Basic knowledge of machinery operation.

Ability to identify hazards and correct them or work safely around them.

Ability to work with others to bring any project to completion.

Education & Work Experience Requirements:

Five (5) + years of prior welding experience; OR,

Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
