Verde Canyon Railroad in Ogden, UT is looking for one train conductor to join our 18 person strong team. We are located on P.O. Box 1544. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, ambitious, and hard-working.Responsibilities Perform inspections on locomotives before and after every run Operate a freight and passenger trains safely between stations Safely assemble and disassemble train cars Identify obstructions and give warning signals at train crossings Monitor inboard meters and gauges including air pressure, battery charge, amperage, and train speed Communicate with the train supervisor about unscheduled stops and delays Insure log books and manuals are correctly stowed in the cab of the locomotive Be a good leader and communicate effectively Prepare articulate reports after any incident, accident or delay Make decisions in a moments notice, safely and efficiently Must have the mechanical skills necessary to adjust broken equipment Must, at times, perform duties not related to conductor's responsibilities, as requested by DSLE, general manager and assistant manager. Qualifications Must hold pertinent certifications as required by the FRA Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record Pass physical and pre-employment drug screening Pass a background check Able to work nights, weekends, holidays and days Able to converse orally and written in the English language Must be in good physical condition We are looking forward to receiving your application.
