Oak Creek Water is seeking candidates to fill the Water Operator position. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and highly motivated with the ability to work independently and as a team.

The position performs a variety of duties in the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of water distribution facility systems, including reading meters, responding to customer complaints, repairing main and service line leaks and breaks; installing, repairing and maintaining water system infrastructure such as water mains, valves, meter connections, and appurtenances; and other duties.

Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes 401K retirement, paid vacation and holidays.

Required:

State of Arizona ADEQ Water Distribution Operator Certificate Grade I / II or must obtain Grade II certification within one year of employment, and Grade III certification within two years of employment

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid Arizona Driver's License; proof of good driving record as evidenced by freedom from multiple or serious traffic violations or accidents for at least three (3) years duration

Requires working outside in a variety of environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, snow, mud, and dust

Ability to move heavy objects (50 pounds or more)

Occasional, weekends, holidays and evenings may be required

Basic Computer Skills

Excellent Customer Service

Must communicate effectively oral and written

Desirable:

Two (2) years of experience in public water utility; or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience in maintenance / construction work.

Since this position is considered a “first responder” during emergency conditions, candidates must live within forty (40) minutes travel time of the District Office in West Sedona, AZ

The successful candidate must pass a criminal background, previous employment, and MVD checks, pre-employment physical exam, drug screen and alcohol test.
