The Natives of Kodiak (NOK) has a unique career opportunity for a seasoned Vice President who will oversee and manage the daily operations of NOK Kodiak, AK office as well as NOK’s Land, Resources, Real Estate, and Shareholder Relations for the benefit of NOK’s Shareholders. This position requires the candidate to live in Kodiak, AK and report into the office full-time.WHY WORK HERE?

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as a member of the Natives of Kodiak, Inc. senior leadership team.

Provides appropriate advice and recommendations to ensure the successful short-term and long-term strategic direction and planning for NOK Land, Resources and Real Estate.

At the direction of the President and CEO, develops strategies and programs that support and further the business goals of NOK.

Executes daily management responsibility for effective and responsive Shareholder Relations.

Creates and maintains positive, mutually beneficial relationships with business partners, the local community, and Federal, State and local government agencies.

Serves as the primary contact with Kodiak community-based organizations, professional associations and elected officials.

Ensures the Kodiak office is always clean, organized and presented in a way that professionally represents NOK to Shareholders and other visitors to the office.

Develops Annual Operating Budget and Capital Requirements Budget (if necessary) for areas of responsibility and ensures all financial and departmental goals are met.

Identifies and reports on significant issues of interest or concern to the President and CEO of NOK.

Assists in identifying and developing viable shareholder employment, education, internships and development opportunities.

Provides mentoring, coaching and similar development programs for shareholders.

Actively assists in developing and executing legislative and political strategy for the benefit of the NOK Board of Directors and shareholders.

Serves as a leader in the community on selected boards, committees and special projects as appropriate and beneficial to the corporation and its subsidiaries.

Develop process and procedure for Descendant Registration and tracking of Scholarship awards.

Publish annual business plan for areas of responsibility to support the overall goals and objectives of the organization that support the NOK Board of Directors Strategic Plan.

Assisting the President and CEO in leading the organization and implementing its strategic goals.

Overseeing departments or teams, providing guidance, and ensuring alignment with company objectives.

Experience in grant applications including grant writing, research and compliance.

Representing NOK at NOK-sponsored events, conferences, and public forums.

Responsible for adherence to the NOK Election Policies to include: Compliance with ANCSA Solicitation of Proxies Regulations adopted by State of Alaska Department, 3 AAC 08.305-365. This includes the NOK Annual Shareholder Meeting, Annual Report, Ballot, Candidate Disclosure Form, Candidate Withdrawal Form, Checklist for Candidates, and Corporate Proxy Materials.

Other duties as requested and/or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, communications, government affairs/political science or related field is required.

5 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience may be substituted for this education requirement.

At least 10 years of industry-related experience including five years in upper management required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
