Responsibilities:

Manages the division's maintenance department and staff including daily staffing and operations.

Maintains and repairs company facilities.

Actively participates in maintenance work and provides troubleshooting assistance.

Participates in our company's Health, Environment, Safety and Security (HESS) program

Applies knowledge of federal and state regulations, company policies and procedures, and rail car and equipment maintenance.

Measures division’s maintenance operations and performance against established goals and objectives.

Maintains maintenance and departmental records and inventories in the appropriate logs.

Provides training, troubleshooting assistance, monitors work performed by staff and performs maintenance work.

Responsible for the employment, supervision, performance management, salary administration, discipline, and training of directly assigned personnel.

Assists in annual budget preparation and monthly forecast and variance analysis.

Requirements:

This job normally requires a level of knowledge in Passenger Rail Car maintenance and facility management equivalent to that which would be acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree or technical school certification.

Demonstration of directly related work experience, which has provided an equivalent breadth, and depth of knowledge may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.

This position requires four (4) years of experience at the journeyman level.

This job normally requires four years of experience in positions involving rail car maintenance.

Demonstrated technical experience in electrical troubleshooting and repair, HVAC and power generation, is required.

Four (4) years demonstrated progressive supervisory experience is required.

Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) including work orders, inventory and purchasing systems.

Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, maintain an attention to accuracy and detail, while working in and promoting a team environment.

Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written, with customers, employees and management

Must have a current valid Alaska driver’s license or the ability to get one prior to starting.

Complete set of mechanic tools is required.

Minimum age of 21 is required.

Must pass pre-employment drug screening and will be part of our random testing program.

Must pass a pre-employment background check.

Must be eligible to work in the United States.
