The Alaska Barge Terminal in Homer Alaska is looking for a full-time office coordinator. The office coordinator is an integral part of the team, playing a key role in the basic functions of the company. This person is often viewed as the face of the organization, making our first impression while performing a variety of tasks ranging from customer interaction, scheduling to record keeping and more. Our primary need is office duties but dependent on a person’s strengths, interests, and goals our multifaceted structure can be a lot more than a typical office setting.

Office Coordinators’ typical duties include but are not limited to

Receptionist work, meet and greet customers, assist in boat storage intake or direct customers to the people they need to see.

Bookkeeping including scheduling, invoicing and document management

Correspondence including answering the phone and responding to emails

Receiving payments

Parts / supply runs or deliveries with company pickup

Shared Housekeeping

With freight handling being a big part of our daily operations, we are looking for someone who is willing to be on the job trained to operate a small forklift and potentially more, dependent on the person.

40 hours per week Monday – Friday

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Maintain a current Alaska Driver’s License, Transportation and Drug Screening

Customer Service Skills

Organization Skills

Ability to handle multiple tasks at once

Timeliness

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Proficient in core math concepts to aid in providing quotes and invoicing

Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, and Excel

Able to contribute positively as part of a team and help with various tasks

Willingness to be trained to operate a small forklift and learn hand signals

Lift 50 lbs.

Limit personal cell phone use to lunch breaks or emergencies

Eligible to apply for TWIC card

Preferred

Experience with QuickBooks or Accounting

Basic knowledge of a commercial freight yard, operations and terminology.

Willing to work overtime to coordinate and or assist in after hour vessel loadouts and more.

Interest in working in shop and yard doing maintenance, handling freight and more

Compensation

$20 - $30 per hour DOE
