We are hiring for all positions including Office, Sales, Retail and Fish Processor. Both Full Time Year Round Positions and Part Time /Full Time Summer Employment.

Peninsula Processing & Smokehouse, LLC is a family run seafood processing company located in Soldotna and is one of Alaska’s most sought after locations for commercial fishing, sport fishing and tourism. We specialize in processing and marketing Wild Alaska Seafood to customers throughout the U.S.

We began in 1997 as a small salmon processing facility in Soldotna, Alaska. Initially our company processed primarily Sockeye Salmon. Today, Peninsula Processing & Smokehouse, LLC has a product line of over 60 products.

Overview of Opportunity:

The base entry level pay rate starts at $15.85 per hour.

Depending on experience and skill level the rate of pay will be adjusted accordingly.

The pay rate for Seafood Processors has a tiered scale based on experience.

For employees with high energy levels and motivation, it is not uncommon for shifts to be up to 12 hours per day and significant amounts of overtime to be available based on fish coming through the plant and the production schedule.

Peninsula Processing & Smokehouse, LLC will provide employee, at no charge, all tools, aprons, hair nets, gloves, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job and on the job training in the proper use of tools and equipment. Employee must provide own knee high rubber boots.

Job Description:

Processors can be assigned to various positions within the production department including, but not limited to, cutting, brining, packaging, racking, freezing, boxing, vac-packing, sorting, filleting, and case-up. Processors are also required to participate in plant clean-up and other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

Essential Functions:

Work under all these conditions:

Up to 12 hours per day, with breaks 4 or more hours apart, during peak processing season during the summer months.

Up to 7 days per week during peak processing months.

Most processing work is done indoors, in a controlled environment.

Standing the entire time, while also making repetitive motions using hands, arms, legs and back, frequent rotations and twisting and bending at the waist.

Working quickly with other employees while mentally focusing on the job the entire time!

Perform job-specific tasks:

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Clean, scrape, brine, trim, and fillet products

Open and remove raw materials and place them on belts.

Segregate product on conveyor belt or table according to grade, color, and size, and place product in containers or on designated conveyors

Gather and weigh boxes, fish totes and baskets.

Use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms for long periods of time.

Discard substandard or defective items and foreign objects.

Pack products in baskets, cans, boxes, barrels, totes or crates for freezing, storage or shipment

Review workspace for cleanliness and safety

Help clean up the plant

Always be on time for your shift.

Basic communication with English speakers

Read, write, and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.

Basic math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with 10's and 100's

Perform job operations using the units of measurement, weight, volume, and distance.

Help pack seafood orders for shipments

Be able to take instructions and maintain a positive attitude.

Visually identify defects in seafood products

Education/Experience:

Peninsula Processing & Smokehouse, LLC welcome workers with no experience but who are willing to learn. Previous seafood industry experience is a plus.
