We're looking for a dedicated Evening Chef who is eager to uphold our commitment to excellence and ensure the happiness of our guests through culinary delights. Immerse in the beauty of Alaska while delivering an experience our guests will reminisce for years to come.
Position: Evening Chef
Hours: Schedule may vary, but will typically be between 1 pm – 12 am
Schedule: 7 days a week, Seasonal (End of May – First Week of September)
Salary Range: $4,000-$5,000 per month (DOE), includes room and board, plus a share in the lodge tip pool.
Responsibilities Include:
Providing US food orders, grocery lists, and items needed to Lodge manager in a timely manner.
Ensuring there are 2-3 appetizers available on the bar prior to dinner every day.
Preparing warm bread, salads, dinners, and desserts daily.
Collaborate with Head of House to cater to late arrivals and serving.
Prepare special occasion desserts for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. throughout the season. Can collaborate with breakfast chef on this responsibility.
Making guest lunches and packing coolers.
Cleaning, storing leftovers, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment.
Assisting with dishes and cleaning, as necessary, to ensure kitchen is prepped and ready for the breakfast chef in the morning.
Managing propane tanks for patio and barbecue.
Assist in maintaining staff laundry and bathroom areas.
Skills / Qualifications:
3 years’ experience in the positions as Kitchen Manager or Executive Chef with fine dining/high end dining experience preferred. Demonstrate quality written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Passion for hospitality, above and beyond making excellent food. Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work long hours as required including weekends. Ability to make adjustments based on food allergies (occasionally last minute). Ability to cook and work in front-facing environment, maintaining cleanliness and professionalism with guests and lodge staff around. Willingness to engage with guests as cooking responsibilities allow. Will have a positive attitude, professional manner & appearance at all times. Ability to maintain accurate inventory counts. Sets an example of sophistication, maturity and professionalism for other staff to base their conduct upon.
We require drug testing, corporate orientation, first aid and CPR training. All of our positions require the above duties/skills and qualifications but are not limited to those listed above.
