This position is eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus and potential relocation stipend.

BASIC PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the administration of daily outbound shipments to customers in the Southeast Alaska Region. Must ensure a safe and secure working environment and operate in a profitable manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directs and supervises the work and productivity of drivers in the operations department. Ensures all drivers are appropriately trained in job duties as well as safety and legal responsibilities.

Works with sales to ensure we are maintaining a high level of customer service.

Communicate regularly with the main distribution center.

Anticipates, analyzes, and troubleshoots problems with deliveries and devises cost-effective and legal solutions; and acts to implement same.

Works closely with routing to ensure all routes are routed in an efficient manner.

Schedules drivers for routes based on location needs.

Conducts routine Safety and Driver Meetings.

Conduct regular driver evaluations.

Create an atmosphere in which upward communication is encouraged and motivate associates to achieve department goals and objectives.

Ensure maintenance of driver DOT files.

Investigates all accidents, tracks cause, and takes appropriate preventative action.

Ensure that all Southeast locations are properly following state and federal regulations for associates and our facilities.

Communicate equipment repair needs and concerns with the maintenance department.

SUPERVISION :

Supervise drivers in Southeast Alaska.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training: High School Diploma or equivalent required, Possess Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.

Related Experience: A minimum of 4 years of transportation/delivery experience required and 1 year of experience managing/leading an hourly workforce preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates. Must be able to use, or learn to use all equipment, and tools used to perform the job. Must be able to perform all job functions safely. Must be able to work the scheduled/assigned times for the position. Must know/have the ability to learn MSDS information regarding all material used within the scope of the work. Understand and interpret DOT and other state and federal regulations.

Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test.

Knowledge of the Southeast Alaska region.

Must reside in the Southeast Alaska region.
