Position: Retail Supervisor – Merchandise Store
Position Information: Recurring seasonal position from April through October annually.
Hours: This is an hourly position with evening, weekend and overtime work required, especially supporting tourism seasonality and holiday visitation.
Salary: $23-$33/hour. DOE. Overtime Eligible.

The Position:
The Retail Supervisor’s primary role is to work with and supervise retail associates, drive beer & merchandise sales, and ensure that every customer is treated professionally with the utmost care and quality of service. The general responsibilities include:
Management Skills
Lead by example, positive communication skills, set the pace for your team to achieve expectations, deliverables, problem solving, delegation skills, technical skills, positive attitude to ensure employees are engaged and productive during their work hours. The Retail Supervisor will work closely with the Retail Operation Manager for store standards.
Leadership Skills
The Retail Supervisor is responsible for keeping employees positively engaged and providing the highest level of customer service attainable. The Retail Supervisor will set the standards according to the Alaska Brewing Standard and follow through.
Communication Skills
Retail Supervisor is responsible for excellent written and verbal skills. The Retail Supervisor is responsible for effectively communicating with employees, customers, vendors, and management. Retail Supervisor is responsible for all open communication between Alaskan Brewing Company and the employees.
Customer Service
As the highest-level employee present at the store, the Retail Supervisor will actively assist customers and drive sales. The Retail Supervisor will ensure that staff are trained to drive sales in all areas of Operation. This may include the Retail Supervisor being hands on for checking out the customers.
The Retail Supervisor understands the importance of our customers and trains the employees in the expectations of customer service standards of Alaskan Brewing Company. These skills can help solve problems, diffuse tense situations, resolve conflicts and more.
Organization
The Retail Supervisor oversees multiple areas of the store operations. The Retail Supervisor must be able to adapt to multiple different situations all the while keeping themselves organized. Organizational skills provide smooth operations and give employees and customers the comfort that the store is well run. The Retail Supervisor will schedule weekly or monthly. In the past employees have preferred to have the schedule monthly. It will fall on the Retail Supervisor what they prefer to do. Employees must have adequate time when the schedule is posted.
The store displays will be set by the Retail Operations Manager, and it will fall on the Retail Supervisor to maintain the store displays and effectively communicate to the Retail Operations Manager merchandise needs. It will be the Retail Supervisors' responsibility to follow all merchandising maintenance in the store. (i.e.: stocking, folding, checking size runs & inventory).
The Retail Supervisor is responsible for inventory counts, maintaining inventory, tracking sales, and recording any lost or stolen inventory.
Financial
The Retail Supervisor is aware of scheduling for sales. It is the responsibility of the Retail Supervisor to schedule when the premium times for sales are happening. The Retail Supervisor is knowledgeable of driving sales and managing expenses. Retail Supervisor will review sales and labor monthly with the Retail Operations Manager.
The Retail Supervisor will be required to professionally represent the brewery in multiple settings. The Retail Supervisor may be required to assist with VIP tours or speak at various functions/events at the store and externally on the brewery's behalf. The Retail Supervisor must understand Alaskan beer products and brewery “story” and be knowledgeable about the merchandise in all retail stores.
Reporting to the Retail Operations Manager, this person is an integral part of the dynamic team that creates positive customer experiences. Physical requirements, skills and knowledge needed to be successful in this position include:
Prior hospitality or RS experience required.
Merchandising skills preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, communications and supervisory skills.
Ability to talk with the public in formal and informal settings.
Ability to set priorities and manage competing demands.
Computer skills using word processing and spreadsheet are necessary. Prior knowledge of POS software necessary. Ability to learn new software quickly.
Willingness to learn about Alaskan Brewing products and production processes.
Physical ability to stack 40-pound cases to a height of seven feet high and to maneuver kegs weighing up to 160 lbs. Will train on how to maneuver kegs.
Ability to perform repetitive lifting building product displays and merchandising store.
