Company Intro:
The Southeast Alaska Food Bank (SEAFB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which focuses on providing food to local non-profits (membership agencies), individuals, and families in need. We coordinate pick-ups from our local grocery stores and food distributors, then disburse this food on-site through our storefront and weekly public food pantries. We are currently building an on-site warehouse to expand our reach and our capacity to offer Federal food commodity grant programs. The need for food has risen in recent years and continues to rise so a lot of exciting things are happening at SEAFB to keep up with this demand!
Core Responsibilities:
The Storefront Program Coordinator:
Ensures the store is properly organized, clean, and stocked. This includes following food safety protocols, rotating stock using a FIFO system, and collaborating with other staff to allocate food to different programs.
Coordinates volunteers for the store, including scheduling, recruiting, maintaining records, delegating tasks and supervising.
Assists shoppers and oversees the weigh-out process, regulates member/patron acquisitions, and collaborates with other staff to fulfill patron requests when possible.
Works closely with management and staff to develop, optimize and execute new storefront programs as they become available and advantageous to SEAFB.
Qualifications:
Required:
Strong customer service skills: A friendly and approachable demeanor to assist our customers.
Strong organizational abilities: Ability to independently manage work with limited supervision and intermittent direction.
Excellent communication skills: Comfortable interacting with diverse groups of people, including customers, clients and volunteers. Ability to work collaboratively on both routine and complex tasks with staff and volunteers.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Must be able to respond to dynamic working environment with evolving needs. Must be able to cross-train and substitute into a variety of roles.
Food Safety Knowledge: Basic understanding of food safety practices and willingness to adhere to all relevant health and safety guidelines.
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
Familiarity with basic computer systems and software.
Ability to routinely lift 50+ pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred:

Previous experience in retail, hospitality or similar customer-facing role is a plus!
Previous experience in non-profit administration, food systems, and/or volunteer organization is a plus!

Salary DOE $22 - $25 per hour
