Being the camp manager at Eagle River United Methodist Camp involves living on site at the camp, 27.5 miles north of Juneau, Alaska. The role includes taking care of the facilities, managing reservations, assisting campers, reporting to the board, and taking care of camp administrative duties (like correspondence and calls, documentation, and creating reports).

This is a part-time job that involves both quality time with people and plenty of time alone in nature. You're expected to have:

an additional source of income for other living expenses (wifi is available)

a reliable vehicle that can handle snow and mud

some basic maintenance and carpentry skills, including experience with hand tools and power tools

some practical mechanical knowledge

interest in learning new practical skills

good communication skills and basic computer and admin skills

willingness and ability to live in rustic conditions

Candidates will also need to pass a background check, a credit check, and take MinistrySafe Sexual Abuse Awareness training.

The contract for an approved candidate is usually three years long.
