JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Regional Manager - NANLA, the Sample Preparation Branch Manager is responsible for coordinating the sample preparation branch and overseeing daily operations while following established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safe practices. In addition, the Sample Preparation Branch Manager is responsible for ensuring the prioritization of processing customer samples to meet specific turn around requirements. Work conditions include: sedentary work.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with the OHS Act and Regulations, BV Group Policy and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the Sample Preparation Branch Manager position.
Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE), while being a strong proponent for safety in the facility.
Manage the Sample Preparation Branch operations and ensuring peak efficiency by:
Evaluating staffing requirements t meet turnaround objectives; interview new employees as required, and provide disciplinary action as needed
Reviewing staff time sheets, vacations, and absences
Providing training and mentor-ship of new staff
Monitoring branch productivity and efficiency
Ordering supplies via Reno Purchasing personnel (or locally as required) and maintaining an inventory consistent with sample volumes
Conducting internal safety tool box and other meetings as needed
Liaising with the Quality department for client and internal investigations as needed. Liaising with external providers for facility controlled waste disposition as needed.
Monitoring performance and maintenance of facility equipment
Practicing good housekeeping.
Report any deviation(s) from documented procedures to the Regional Manager.
Report any unsafe condition(s) observed in the branch to the Regional Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
